the Wonder of Christmas

wonder of christmas

This year we invite you to wonder about the stars and the scriptures just like the wise men did.   The stars and the whole universe points to the existence of an intelligent and powerful God.  The scriptures and in particular the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus point to a God who is humble, local and love.

To wonder about the universe, find some time out in nature, maybe on a clear moonless night and look at the vastness.  Ponder the why sometine exists rather than nothing.  Ponder the mystery that the universe can be comprehended and understood.

To wonder about the scriptures, find a bible, access a bible online (www.biblegateway.com), or get the youverison bible app for iOS or for Android (https://www.bible.com/app). Then read one of the books that record the life of Jesus:  Gospel of Matthew, Gospel of Mark, Gospel of Luke and/or the Gospel of John.  The first few chapters of Matthew and Luke give details of Jesus' birth.

If you would like to explore more about Jesus with people, we offer the following:

  1. An opportunity for a conversation to discuss questions you may have
  2. Someone to read through parts of the bible with you (eg a gospel, which records the life of Jesus) .  It can be helpful to read the bible with someone who has read it before and can help with questions along the way.
  3. A seven stories of hope small group that looks at seven stories from the life of Jesus
  4. A new Alpha Course starting in early 2024.  A video series exploring Christianity

To access them, speak to someone from our church, give us a call, or submit this form (we will only use your details to contact you about this and nothing else)
